The one with a ‘Friends’ reunion? Don’t count on it

Could this BE any more absurd? The Internet seems to really want a “Friends” reunion (and, hey, we don’t blame them. We want to know if Joey still loves jam these days just as much as the next person.)

Rumors that NBC was launching a new season of “Friends” took grip of the World Wide Web earlier this week (yeah, we’re not sure how either) -- and it tugged right at our Central Perk hearts.

And while it would seem easy enough -- after all, Courtney Cox recently guest-starred on Matthew Perry’s “Go On,” and Matt LeBlanc will be appearing on Lisa Kudrow’s “Web Therapy” -- that is where the fantasy stops.

NBC denied reports that a “Friends” reunion was in the works, or that they were relaunching their Thursday stalwart; as did Warner Bros., the studio that produced the long-running show. And Marta Kauffman, who co-created the show with David Crane, has put water to the flame, too.

It’s not the first time talks of a reunion have floated through the grapevine. Last November, a photo of the famous orange Central Perk couch made the rounds on the Internet, claiming a “Friends” reunion special was slated for Thanksgiving 2014 -- a rumor that Perry quickly shot down on Twitter, saying: “There is zero truth to this rumor.”
